ST. RAPHAEL YOUTH MINISTRY CORE TEAM

What is the CORE TEAM? 

The CORE TEAM is a group of teens and adults who commit on an    annual basis (Sept. to Sept.) to serve as leaders in the youth
ministry program of St. Raphael’s Church.  The commitment Core     Team members make is as follows:

1. To be faithful to attend Mass on Sundays & Holy Days of  
   Obligation
2. To go to the Sacrament of Penance (Confession) on a Regular Basis
3. To have a daily prayer life that includes Sacred Scripture
4. To attend the annual Core Team Retreat, the monthly Core Team
  Meeting/FNL, and attend at least one other youth group event each
  month
5. To be accountable to my fellow Core Team Members

How do I become a part of the CORE TEAM? 

1. Come to the CORE TEAM Kickoff
2. Pray about making a commitment
3. Sign a CORE TEAM agreement
4. Register for the CORE TEAM Retreat (Sept. 17-18)
5. Attend the Retreat and begin participating in our youth ministry

What do CORE TEAM members do?

1.  Serve at youth ministry events.  If it needs to be done Core Team Members do it!
2. Lead through participation in planning and leading events, music
  ministry, drama ministry, leading in prayer, giving talks, leading
  small groups, helping with set-up and clean-up, fundraising activities,
  leading games & ice breakers, and serving in whatever capacity you
  are asked  to serve.

-Annual CORE TEAM retreat (Sept. 17-18)
-CORE TEAM meetings and Friday Night Live
-Attend at least one other youth event each month (The Experience  Youth Group, Wednesday Prayer Gathering, ALTUS, WOW, ARMOR, The  PULSE, NET Life Line).  ROC Small Groups cannot be used towards this.

Spiritual Expectations

1 I will seek to serve God with my whole life as a disciple of Jesus Christ

2. I will commit myself to personal spiritual growth and a relationship with God through:

•Faithful Mass Attendance on Sundays & Holy Days of Obligation
•Going to the Sacrament of Penance (Confession) on a regular basis
•Having a daily prayer life that includes Sacred Scripture
•A commitment to my parish community

Behavioral Expectations

3. I will take my words, actions, and choices seriously because I know it tells others about my commitment to Jesus Christ.  This includes…

•Striving to live out my vocation of Chastity
•Seeking to be pure of heart in my use of my words
•Having dignity and respect for myself and my neighbor because we are both created in God’s image and likeness
•Not participating in activities that violate the commandments or bring the tarnish of scandal to Christ or the Church

4. I will remain humble and open to direction, instruction, and guidance of the leadership God has placed in my life.  This includes my parents, leaders in our parish community (Priests, Deacons, Youth Ministers, Parish Staff, and Adult Youth Leaders) and in the broader Catholic Community (Archbishop Nienstedt, Bishop Piche’ and Pope Benedict  XVI)

Leadership Expectations

5. I will go out of my way greet visitors and welcome everyone at youth ministry activities and events

6. I will attend the monthly CORE TEAM meetings (See Schedule) and I will stay for the Friday Night Live that follows the CT Meeting

7. I will attend the annual CORE TEAM retreat (Sept. 17-18, 2011)

8. I will attend at least one other youth event each month besides the CT Meeting/FNL night

9. I will be a positive influence in the St. Raphael youth ministry program and the wider parish community

10. I will support the mission and goals of the St. Raphael youth ministry program

11. I will strive to be a servant leader in the St. Raphael youth ministry program
